The C is For Community

November 18, 2019 0

With the holidays approaching, the message on the power of giving is everywhere. It will soon be that time of year when differences are put aside for the sake of peace and helping others. Most know the most obvious result of giving back
to others is that it relieves suffering. It’s just the right thing to do from one human to another. But what if it wasn’t just good to give for the receiver, but for the giver as well?

Studies show that giving back can benefit your well-being. When someone performs acts of kindness, it creates a sense of purpose and improves your outlook on life. Those who give back reduce stress, sleep better, eat healthier, and improve
their time management skills. In addition to feeling like you are doing meaningful work, giving back promotes personal growth and the development of new skills.Volunteering, for example, can open you to skills or connections where you can take
your career further or begin your professional journey.

The task of building a community to become stronger and happier cannot be done alone or in one way. The best part of giving back is that it becomes a healthy habit that will feel more natural the more it is done. CCHC encourages those to give not just when the holidays come but all year round.

Contributing to your community doesn’t have to be big; start small but start today.
